While I agree mental illness isn’t a joke…if you take everything so seriously in life and forget to laugh, even at yourself, then you sound like a stick in the mud. (I mean the generally you, not the mod)
No, that’s not it. I wouldn’t care about that if a) it wasn’t a children’s show and b) it treated all other conditions just as equivalently. Mostly it’s (a) that’s an issue. Children learn from cartoons and other TV shows they watch. If they think that mental illness is funny, than they might think it’s okay to laugh and make fun of the mentally ill. That’s not okay.
again, I’m fine with jokes about all sorts of things in adult series. I’m fine with the show, I’m fine with Derpy, and I’m not angry. This is something that comes up in dozens of children’s cartoons. I’m just disappointed that the team at Studio B didn’t avert this particular trope.
